Car Seat Cleaning Melbourne

Ready to book your car seat cleaning but not sure which service or terminology applies to your child's seat?

You're not alone.

To help make things easier, we've broken down the most common types of child restraints, including infant capsules, rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats, and booster seats, so you can confidently select the right cleaning service for your needs.

Please note that we are cleaning experts, not child restraint safety technicians. For advice relating to the safe use, installation, age suitability, height markers, transitioning between restraint stages, or any other safety-related instructions, we recommend referring to your car seat manufacturer's guidelines and current Australian Government or state road safety regulations. Child restraints should always be used and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and Australian safety requirements.

Our role is to professionally clean your child restraint and help keep it fresh, hygienic, and looking its best, while any safety-related decisions should always be based on official guidance from the manufacturer and relevant authorities.

Professional child restraint cleaning Melbourne

At Baby Village Spa, we keep things simple with two child restraint cleaning categories:

Infant Capsule Cleaning
Starting from $89

Designed for removable baby capsules typically used for newborns and young infants. These restraints usually click into a base installed in the vehicle and can be carried with your baby secured inside.

Car Seat / Child Restraint Cleaning
Starting from $99
Designed for all other child restraints, including rear-facing car seats, forward-facing car seats, convertible car seats, and booster seats. These restraints generally remain installed in the vehicle and are larger and more complex to clean than infant capsules.

Deep cleaning a rear-facing child car seat
In Australia, the official term is"child restraint" because the legislation and Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1754 cover a range of safety devices designed to restrain children in a vehicle, not just traditional car seats.

This includes infant capsules, rearward-facing restraints, forward-facing restraints with an inbuilt harness, booster seats, and booster cushions.

Removing stains from a child's car seat

An infant capsule is a rear-facing child restraint designed specifically for newborns and young babies. It provides support for a baby's head, neck, and spine and is intended to be used from birth until the baby reaches the maximum height or weight limit specified by the manufacturer, typically around 6 to 12 months of age

Removing stains from a child's car seat

A child car seat is a child restraint designed for babies and young children who have outgrown an infant capsule or who use a convertible seat from birth. Unlike an infant capsule, a child car seat remains installed in the vehicle and is not designed to be removed and carried. Depending on the model, it may be used in a rear-facing position for younger children before converting to a forward-facing position as they grow.

Capsule, Car Seat & Booster Cleaning

Getting ready for a new baby?

Infant Capsule

Whether you're dusting off an infant capsule that's been in storage, reusing one from an older sibling, accepting a hand-me-down from family or friends, or picking up a great find from Facebook Marketplace or your local parents' group, giving it a thorough clean before your new arrival is always a great idea.

An infant capsule is a rear-facing child restraint designed specifically for newborns and young babies. Its unique feature is a removable carrier that clicks in and out of a base installed in your vehicle, allowing you to move your baby without removing them from the restraint

Has your baby outgrown the capsule?

Car Seat

Once your baby reaches the milestone of outgrowing their infant capsule, usually when they reach the maximum height or shoulder marker specified by the manufacturer, it's time to transition to a child car seat or child restraint. This exciting milestone means your little one is growing fast and ready for their next stage of travel

The final stage- the Booster Seat

Booster Seat

Once your child has outgrown their forward-facing car seat with an inbuilt harness, they may be ready to transition to a booster seat, subject to the manufacturer's size requirements and current Australian child restraint guidelines. Booster seats are designed for older children and help position the vehicle's seatbelt correctly across the shoulder and hips for safer travel.

Professional Car Seat Cleaning by Baby Village Spa

Remove built-up dirt, crumbs, dust, and debris.

From dropped snacks and drink spills to sand from the playground and everyday dust, child car seats can collect a surprising amount of mess over time. Much of this debris becomes trapped beneath seat covers, within harness systems, and in hard-to-reach crevices that are difficult to clean thoroughly at home. Professional cleaning helps remove this hidden build-up, leaving your child's seat fresher, cleaner, and ready for everyday adventures.

Eliminate lingering odours caused by food spills, milk, and everyday use.

From forgotten snack crumbs and spilt baby bottles to the occasional accident, child car seats are exposed to all kinds of messes that can leave behind unpleasant odours. Over time, these smells can become trapped within the fabric, padding, and hidden areas of the restraint. Professional cleaning helps remove the source of the odour, leaving the seat smelling fresh, clean, and ready for every journey.

Restore the appearance of stained or heavily used restraints.

Over time, even the most well-cared-for child restraints can show signs of daily use. Food spills, sunscreen, dirty shoes, sticky fingers, and everyday family life can leave seats looking tired, stained, and worn. Professional cleaning helps lift surface dirt and reduce visible staining, refreshing the appearance of your infant capsule, car seat, or booster seat and helping it look its best for continued use or its next little passenger.

Mould Treatment & Car Seats

As all parents know, child restraints are a significant investment, not only because of their cost, but because they help protect the most precious cargo of all, your child. Regular cleaning and proper storage can help keep your infant capsule, car seat, or booster seat in the best possible condition between uses.

If a child restraint is stored while damp or in a humid environment, surface mould can develop surprisingly quickly.

In some cases, we may be able to professionally clean and treat light surface mould. However, before accepting a mould remediation booking, we will require clear photos of the restraint to assess its condition and determine whether cleaning is appropriate.

Unfortunately, if mould growth is extensive, particularly on the harness straps, webbings, or internal components, we may need to decline the booking. Child restraint manufacturers generally advise that harness straps should not be immersed, harshly cleaned, or treated with chemicals not specifically approved by the manufacturer, as this may affect the integrity and performance of the restraint. For this reason, heavily mould-affected straps may not be suitable for restoration and may require replacement in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Always refer to the specific guidance provided by your child restraint manufacturer regarding mould, maintenance, cleaning, and replacement requirements
